The Jan Löwenbach Prize is awarded for outstanding contribution to the theory or practice of copyright law, taking into account merits in its development in both a national and an international context.
The Prize
The prize is a reminder that copyright is not merely a set of legal rules. It protects creative work, enables the dissemination of culture and creates space for international cooperation.
Who can receive the prize
A natural or legal person who has demonstrably contributed to the development of copyright law and whose activities are in line with the aims of ALAI may become a laureate. The selection also takes into account the candidate's relationship to the Czech Republic and to the international ALAI expert community.
How decisions are made
The prize is decided by the ALAI Scientific Council and Board of Directors at separate meetings. If their decisions differ, the vote of the ALAI Chair decides.
